Winter guests at Chalet Le Sabot enjoy the luxury of being looked after and catered for by our wonderful, professional host couple. We search the globe to find lovely, capable people to host our chalet so you will be happy, relaxed and well fed throughout your stay.
Chef will delight you with stunning, healthy meals made with fresh local produce to a standard reflecting many years of experience. During your stay with us you can indulge in hearty breakfasts; afternoon tea, coffee, mulled wine and freshly baked cake; a 3 course evening meal and, of course, a plentiful supply of local wines. Chef can cater for all tastes and age groups and makes each meal a real event. Those with specific dietary requirements can be catered for equally well.
Special occasions such as Christmas and New Year are marked with Champagne and a feast. Your own special occasions such as birthdays can be celebrated in style also, our hosts are very happy to make cakes and serve a special dinner.
Most of our winter guests are with us to ski or snowboard. Oz is the perfect choice for learners, those with children and mixed ability groups as there are 249km of runs ranging from leisurely Greens to challenging Blacks.
The slopes of Oz en Oisans are ideally situated for quiet skiing or snowboarding to enable you to build your confidence or enhance your technique without worrying about the masses. For the more accomplished, there are two lifts from the village to the main Vaujany and Alpe d'Huez areas. From Chalet Le Sabot you can be at 2800m in less than 20 minutes and at Pic Blanc (3300m) in another 10. From there it is a 2km vertical drop of blissful skiing right back the front door.
There is an excellent ski school operating from the village which is a short walk from Chalet Le Sabot. Both group and private lessons are available for children and for adults. Our office will be happy to take care of booking these for you.
Alpe d'Huez hosted the 'SkiX' world cup in 2010, 11 and 12. As a result it became famous in the world of freestyle and more particularly SkiX and is now the most extensive snow park in the Alpes. There is both a beginner and an expert park in Alpe d'Huez and also a novice park in Vaujany.
Cross-country skiing is becoming increasingly popular. Participation ranges from a gentle ‘stroll’ to a serious fitness challenge! There are 30 km of trails accessible via cable car from Oz Resort. Located at 2100m altitude, the Poutran loop (10 km blue trail) and the Boucle des lacs (Lakes loop, 20 km red trail) offer both skating and traditional skiing.
Other winter activities include snowshoeing, paragliding, ice skating, night time skiing and indoor rock climbing. There is also an ice wall for those that like to climb outside.
