Getting Here

There are many options for getting to Oz en Oisans including several airports, high speed train services and the increasingly popular option of driving.

Flying

The closest airports that service the Alpe d’Huez area are Grenoble and Chambery with many direct flights from 14 different airports in the UK and various other locations around Europe. The transfer from Grenoble airport to Chalet Le Sabot is only 1 hour, apparently one of the shortest transfers for any of the major ski areas in the Alpes.

Only slightly further afield are the airports of Lyon (Saint Exupéry and Bron). Lyon is a major European airport with direct flights from 120 locations around Europe and Scandinavia. You can fly to Lyon from almost anywhere in Europe.

Our office will be happy to help you with your flight options and private taxi transfers from the airport.

Train

Eurostar, TGV and SNCF all have high speed trains that connect with Grenoble.

If traveling from the UK then please remember that Eurostar journeys via Paris will arrive at Gare du Nord and depart from Gare du Lyon. This will involve at metro trip across Paris. Chalet Le Sabot recommends Eurostar journeys via Lille where the Eurostar arrives and departs from adjoining platforms. This is a slightly longer duration journey but the transfer at Lille and the fact that the cost is usually less make this the happy holiday choice.

Our office will be happy to help you with your rail options and private taxi transfers from Grenoble TGV Station.

Driving

Driving is becoming a popular option for getting to the French Alps. The trip takes approximately 12 hours door to door from London. The tolls in France cost about £50 each way but are worth every penny.  The motorway system in France is one of the best in Europe. The roads have very little traffic (compared to, say, the UK) and the roads themselves are in an excellent condition. Congestion and delay are rare and traveling by motorway in France is completely stress free.

If traveling from the UK then ferry or Eurotunnel costs depend on availability but booking in advance can reduce the costs significantly. Ask our office for advice and for details of any offers.

For the final part of the journey up the mountain to the resort snow chains are recommended ...... just in case.

Chalet Le Sabot has parking for two vehicles next to the chalet. Alternatively the resort offers underground secure parking for a remarkably small fee. This is the option that most of our guest choose as your car remains frost and snow free.
