Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you what a truly fantastic time we had at your lovely chalet in Oz. What a fantastic place, brilliant positioning near the lifts, fabulous family resort, and beautiful surroundings. And we all cannot say enough about Lee and Shirley, the fabulous hosts. The food that was produced every day was just amazing, Lee is an absolute genius in the kitchen, and it was totally brilliant how they accommodated for the children, and put up with some of us being around the chalet for a good proportion of the day.
Chris Earle and family (UK) February Half Term 2014
We have had a wonderful relaxing holiday thanks to Lee & Shirley, you made our experience of Catered Chalet a fab one and we can't wait to come back again. Even though Sophie and I were ill you kindly helped us too. Both girls loved you both, as you can see by the comments. Wish you both well on your travels and look forward to next year!!
The Doleman family (UK) February 2014
Impossible NOT to enjoy a holiday at Chalet Le Sabot. A perfect cocktail of comfort, culinary high points, hospitality and yes some winter fun on the mountains. We have now introduced the following generation to Oz: our hero Lasse. He too had a fantastic holiday. Not the least thanks to the wonderful moments created by Shirley and Lee. Sweet, friendly hosts, always ready to please. And with big smiles. Thank you both. Hope to see you in Belgium one day.
Eddy Wouters & family (Belgium) January 2014 [5th Visit]
Indeed a great thanks to the wonderful warm hosts Shirley & Lee! For softening the beds, the delicious meals, the cuddles from Shirley (Lasse) the itchy beard from Lee :-) We wish you a great experience in Madagascar! Enjoy the free life and hope to see you again one day! Big hugs from Lasse (9 months) :-P
Joyce Wouters & Sam Daelemans (Belgium) January 2014 [3rd Visit]
Our first week skiing and what better way than to spend it in Oz and at Chalet Le Sabot. We have been exceptionally lucky with great snow and we have all come on in leaps and bounds. As for our fabulous hosts Lee and Shirley - what can we say? The most friendly and hospitable people you could meet and Lee's cooking is absolutely to die for. We have been truly spoilt with fabulous breakfasts, very welcome afternoon teas and the most amazing evening meals - truly top restaurant standard. Going home will be such a disappointment to go back to ordinary meals. Thank you so much, it has been an absolutely brilliant week.
We hope to return!
The Clarke and Orgill families (UK) New Year 2014
We had a beautiful week in Chalet Le Sabot. The weather was all week sunny. We could use a little more snow. The chalet is very comfortable but what made it really special were Lee and Shirley, our hosts. Their effort to make us comfortable was great. English and Dutch breakfasts, great christmas dinners, cakes, sweets at 5 o'clock sweets. Nice company in your house. Joris (13 years) is a good snowboarder now.
Thanks for everything.
Huele family (The Netherlands) Christmas 2014
I have had a fantastic week in Chalet le Sabot. Amazing views, amazing food and great skiing. Many thanks to Matt and Lucia for looking after me. I will be back.... Maybe with family or maybe not.
Paddy (UK) March 2014
Fantastic week in Chalet le Sabot!! Super location, stunning views and beautiful decor.
Of course the week would not have been complete without our fantastic hosts, Matt & Lucia, who made our stay so welcoming and enjoyable. The food was superb, the company and conversation was delightful and Joanna's birthday was very special. The skiing was great too, a great resort, very lucking with snowfall and weather. Recommend snowshoeing too! We look forward to seeing you, Lucia & Matt on your Michelin starred dive boat in warmer climates!
Big thank you and love .
Monnington family (UK) March 2014
We've had a great week. Our wonderful hosts Matt and Lucia have been outstanding.
Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful week. Chalet le Sabot has been the most perfect chalet for our combined families of 9. Every comfort is catered for, the spacious bedrooms, the many bathrooms, the sauna and much appreciated heated boot room. A perfect chalet in a lovely village and close to the slopes. We have had great snow, 4 sunny days and fab skiing
BUT MOST AT ALL we want to thank Matt and Lucia our fabulous hosts! Lucia is ever so helpful and charming, delightful! Matt superb, cooking exceeded all expectations. We have been well and truly spoiled. We all work very hard with stressful jobs and being looked after so well for this whole week has been a real treatment.
We couldn't recommend Chalet le Sabot highly enough and would love to come back.
Thank you and a bientot!!
Pagliero and Fletcher families (UK) February 2014
Another week in paradise. Greatly enhanced by the perfect combustable combinations of South African Michelin star culinary talents and ever so sweet Spanish hospitality.
Thank you so much Matt and Lucia. Now back to Belgium with great memories.
Wouters family (Belgium) February 2014 [4th visit]
We've had a great week. Our wonderful hosts Matt and Lucia have been friendly, laid back, welcoming, hospitable and the food - WOW! Both meat and veggie options wonderful.
Everything is impressively clean and well thought out - lots of storage space, wonderful views, adjustable heating, drying room and never out of hot water.
It has been luxurious and relaxing (and exciting - we did 'le Tunnel' - aarghh!!)
Lydia and Pete (UK) January 2014
I am very sad to be leaving Chalet le Sabot tomorrow. This has been a wonderful holiday. My week was just perfect, not even if I had planned it before would it of been more perfect.
Matt and Lucia are just great, the food was amazng. They are very attentive, so nice and polite and helpful that it is hard to find the words. I just want to move here forever.
Roxana (UK) January 2014
Thank you for a perfect holiday. Couldn't improve it, just want to know when we can come back? We loved it and our holiday was a perfect start to our move down under!
Matt + Lucia Thanks for a FAB time, so helpful, so kind. Wonderful food -except the frog legs. You made our stay so easy. Chalet was fab, didn't need anything else.
Hugh family (UK) January 2014
An unique culinary experience - simply the best food we have ever experienced in a catered chalet. Feel utterly spoilt by a lovely couple who were totally professional in their work, yet utterly charming as hosts.
The very best to you.
Armstrong family (UK) January 2014
Beautiful weather for two days, blizzards and high winds Christmas and Boxing day but sunny from Friday to top up tan for home. Snow brilliant on the runs that were open so enjoyed Alpe de Huez Black and Red plus both sides of mountain. Torch light evening very good along with meal at "La Farme" - Great steak. Chalet very comfortable, specially sauna. Great staff and food, lovely fire and view from balcony. Hopefully see Oz again some day.
Clark family (UK) Christmas 2013
Thank you for a great week Matt and Lucia and great job looking after us. We were very impressed with the food and hospitality. Our 2 years old daughter Anya loved Lucia and with no doubt will miss her. The girls (Ishika and Jaya) had a great time skiing, although Jaya could not find enough jumps. "The spot" cafe is fantastic in a good weather and worth a visit.
A great, child friendly chalet, one of the best we have ever stayed in. Stunning views.
Barbara Maublanc, based in Oz is a great teacher. We had a few private lessons with her and got a great deal. Many thanks to Matt and Lucia who took care of us so well. We hope you both have a great winter season and get plenty of snowboarding.
Sanghera family (UK) December 2013
The chalet is very well appointed with great views. It is a perfect set up for two families, who want their own space, as we had a floor per family, with plenty of bath/shower rooms. The hosts were very accommodating, with delicious food. We were all very well looked after, and the chalet kept very clean. A fantastic holiday.
Knudsen and Wager Families (UK) March 2013
We had an absolutely fantastic time. The chalet was first class and I must say that both Colin and Livia were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they looked after us and our dietary needs effortlessly (or at least they made it appear that way !). The resort itself was fantastic for my family and was a great mix of picturesque, calm yet with a pleasant buzz. The skiing itself was great and undoubtedly helped by the weather at the time. We’ve now been on three catered chalet holidays and would certainly say that this was the best by some distance. Our two kids are now desperate to know when our next skiing holiday is and that is the best indicator of all. Our compliments and thanks again to you and your team.
Richmond & Locke Families (UK) February 2013
One word FABULOUS Thank you
Our second year at Chalet Le Sabot. Lovely couple, professional hosts and clearly worthy people. They made Chalet Le Sabot what it is supposed to be. Craig, Pippa, Joshua, Ethan and Maddison Rose
The Rose Family (UK) February 2013
Fourth time at Chalet Le Sabot and the best yet! Felt like coming home and Colin & Livia made sure we enjoyed every moment. Nothing was too much trouble and we so enjoyed the chat. Hard to say thank you enough!
Tracy, Jim, Isabel & David (UK) January 2013 (4th visit)
Colin and Livia, your first week of hosting and our first skiing holidays in a catered chalet. Hopefully it was as enjoyable for you as it was for us. Couldnt have wished for anymore fantastic food (gonna miss my morning fry-up), plenty of beer/wine but most importantly a smile and a helping hand whenever required. The weather has been brilliant but xmas on the slopes and the 8 course xmas dinner will be a fond memory for years to come. Will definitely recommend Chalet Le Sabot to all. So thanks again Colin & Livia. The resort and chalet deserve a 9/10 but you made it 10/10.
The Berry Clan (UK) Christmas 2012
This is our fourth year in Chalet Le Sabot and even better than last year!! Peter and Chris gave brilliant food and great hospitality. Hope to come next year.
Another wonderful stay at the Chalet Sabot thanks largely to the fantastic hospitality by Peter and Chris. Thanks again and see you next year, for our seventh year in Oz.
Thank you for the amazing food and hospitality.
We enjoyed once again our stay at the Sabot. It feels like home!

Laithwaite & White families (UK) April 2012
Thank you for a wonderful week. We have really enjoyed our stay and the fantastic food.
Chris and Peter: Thank you for being amazing hosts. We had a great time, wonderful food, beautiful chalet, fantastic weather. What more can we ask for. Hope to return to Chalet Le Sabot in the future.
Sinead and Lee (UK) March 2012
Dear Chris and Peter, Not much to add to the rest. Just to say a massive thank you for being such wonderful hosts over the last week. Looking forward to visiting Oz in the future.
Andrew and Caroline (UK) March 2012
This has been a fantastic week. Chris and Peter have been amazing hosts. The food has been top notch with a great service to match. The Sauna has been a great indulgence and we have used it every day. Takes about an hour to get it hot!! Worth the wait. Will be heading back soon for another week of luxury.
Tom, Steve, Jim and Rob (UK) March 2012
Congratulations to the hosts, Chris and Peter, for having been able to put up with nine Belgians for a whole week- without losing their sanity. Three generations of the Wouters family enjoyed a fantastic week in Le Sabot and the seven days of unbelievably nice weather were only a minor element of the wonderful experience. Thank you so much Chris and Peter.
Charlie: Translated.. It’s a pity I am so old already, 81, otherwise I would come here every year. Thank you and see you again. Charlie.
Wouters Family (Belgium) February 2012 (2nd visit)
Dear Peter and Chris, Thank you for looking after us all and making our stay so welcoming and comfortable. This was the best catered chalet we have had-food was superb. Fabulous week on the slopes-blue skies and perfect conditions. Enjoy the rest of the season.

February Half Term 2012
Thank you for such a delicious week. Its been the coldest weeks skiing that we have ever experienced but we have had plenty of snow to play in. Oz has looked beautiful consistently and has been a great refuge from the biting wind over in Auris. The children have had an amazing time with their friends and ski school. ESF were excellent. Will hopefully be back soon.
Sue, Andy, Eve and William (UK) February 2012
Chris and Peter (excellent hosts). Thank you for an amazing week. Food has been delicious and the atmosphere very relaxing. Chilling in the Sauna has definitely been a highlight. The chalet is set in a lovely location and the skiing has been fantastic. Vin Chaud and sledging has been brilliant. Will definitely recommend to our friends and family. Thank you again.
Steve and Alice (UK) February 2012
Third time here for Isobel, David, Jim and Tracey. Had the most glorious week, a hugh dump of snow just before we arrived and sunshine every day.Peter and Chris have looked after us wonderfully so it has been relaxing and stress free. Thank you. What a perfect little spot.
Jim and Tracey (UK) January 2012 (3rd visit)
A great week, perfect skiing, great hospitality. Once again Chalet le Sabot has given us a great week with the support of Peter and Chris.
Isobel and David (UK) January 2012 (3rd visit)
Super Happy New Year at Chalet le Sabot.
Our highlights: powder, sledging, the views, Alpe d'huez, fantastic food (5 stars), great hosts, Oz en Oisans village, learning to ski, vin chaud, skiing, beautiful mountain, crepes and galettes, tea time and the sauna.
Our lowlights: coming back to the chalet soaked but happy after skiing in the rain, mountain closed on the last day due to storms and wind, having to leave at 3am for our flight home.
Thanks Peter and Chris for being great hosts. We so enjoyed your hospitality but also your ease in letting us have our own space. All the best.
Martin, Barb, Carter, Tate (Istanbul)
Sue, Cameron and Freya Kingston (UK) New Year 2011
Beautiful weather, good snow, vin chaud, incredible meals, and two wonderful hosts! Thank you Chris and Peter for this fantastic week! And if you are ever in Montpelier, don't hesitate to visit us. Maybe we will come to Oz again since we loved the place. Keep on doing such a good Job.
Pascale, Yann, Patrick 1 and 2, Justine, Morgane, Ginette, Nicholas and the inevitable Sacha the Terrible. (France) Christmas 2011
Thanks Chris and Peter for showing us a luxury week in OZ. It was a great week, learnt to ski and had fantastic meals. All the best for the rest of the season.
Kerrie & Mark (Australia) December 2011
Despite being a last minute plan due to a lack of snow in Italy we could not have been happier. Easy access to slopes, shops and not too stressful a drive here. Amazing food and nothing was too much trouble. The oldest two boys, six and three mastered skiing thanks to excellent lessons from ESF and were most happy to be faster than Mum on the last day. Lack of snow was not an issue… it never stopped. Many thanks for a fabulous holiday.
Family Mills (UK) December 2011
Another time here past, even better than last year. Eloise
Will next year be even better. We had a great time, lovely weather, just enough snow. Richard.
Third year here, the chalet was still amazing! Alexia
Family Meade (UK) April 2011 (3rd Visit)
Thank you for a wonderful week, food was superb and served with humour and conviviality - you have a great way of putting your guests immediately at ease...
Marshall Chieko Robby & Alex (UK) April 2011 (3rd Visit)
I blame Martyn and Shirley for bringing us here to Chalet Sabot! They were here at Christmas 2010 and thought that another trip with some “old” skiing friends would be great. They were correct in their thinking. Its the best Catered Chalet we’ve stayed in this side of the Atlantic. It was nicely appointed and thoughtfully fitted out for skiers needs. The food cooked by Chris has been great and healthy to! She was well served by her “sou chef” Peter who offered us much advice, i.e Weather, skiing and Bus timetables.
Well Chris’s Porridge was the pinnacle of taste: Porridge, honey and Baileys Irish Cream for the warm glow in the morning. Great fun and thanks.
Jean and Gil (UK) March 2011
Thank you for keeping us well fed and for making our week in Oz so relaxing and enjoyable. A great week introducing me to skiing. Thank you for the delicious meals and wine. Thank you for your fantastic hospitality. In 8 weeks skiing you have been the best hosts we have come across. The food was fantastic.
Thank you so much Peter and Chris for your wonderful hospitality, great food and company.
The Doctors (UK) March 2011
Thank you, we have had a fantastic time in this beautifully located chalet. Peter and Christine have been a blessing as the food and conversation were fantastic (especially with vegetarians in mind). We all loved the layout of the building and especially the boot room!
Zoe, we felt that you were always extremely helpful with any queries we passed your way, helping to make booking our first independent ski trip a fairly stress free process - thank you!
The Bristol Crowd (UK) February 2011
We had a lovely holiday. The chalet hosts were very kind and the meals they cooked were lovely. Record: Most Nutella eaten, most bread eaten, most family games played! Had a wonderful holiday.
The Hughes Family (UK) February Half Term 2011
When we arrived at the chalet we were amazed by it's beauty and thanks to our lovely hosts we were able to settle down asap. Thank you very much for our brilliant holiday.
The Duncan Family (UK) February Half Term 2011
A massive thank you! My time here is one I shall never forget. Fantastic food, lovely people and super skiing.
Chris (UK) February 2011
If we ever make it to heaven we will be short changed by 2 weeks simply because we have already spent them at Chalet Le Sabot! 2 years ago and now again we have lived through a week of total relaxation consisting of fantastic food and drinks, sauna, baths and relaxing sessions at the fireplace. Thanks for bringing heaven to earth.
Eddy & Marleen (Belgium) January 2011 (2nd visit)
Once again we had a great time at the Chalet. Our hosts were excellent, welcoming, very committed and hard-working. Many thanks to them for a great holiday, great cooking, great company, couldn't have been more helpful. We were very lucky with the weather also, snow in the first two days, then glorious sunshine for the rest of the week. It was like Easter skiing, wonderful. We enjoyed Oz again and the comforts of Chalet Le Sabot.
The Morris Family (UK) January 2011 (2nd visit)
This is our 2nd time here. Loved last year but loved this one even more!! We really couldn't fault a single detail of the service we received from our hosts. We loved their food and company in equal measure. We were extremely lucky to have both snow and sun this week but I'm sure we would have had a wonderful time whatever the weather. Can't wait for a rematch next year.
Tracey & Jim Power (UK) January 2011 (2nd visit)
What a wonderful week and the perfect way to bring in the new year. Wonderful chalet, wonderful hosts, great skiing - the best of 3 times in Alpe d'Huez. Thank you so much for making us so welcome, for looking after us and for the fantastic cuisine - just brilliant
The Pedricks (UK) New Year 2010
We can only agree wholeheartedly with the comments made. Thanks to our hosts for making us feel so at home, and absolutley fantastic food. A big thank you
The Taylors (UK) New Year 2010
Derek I'm envious, you have a great chalet. We all had a great time and your hosts couldn't have done more. We'll be back.
Thank you for being so helpful and freindly. The food was wonderful. Have a great season and enjoy your skiing.
The Coxhills (Birmingham, UK) Christmas 2010
We didn’t manage to match the 50 litre record set by the Leeds lawyers but I think we set a sunshine record with 6 gloriously sunny days out of 7. The chalet is really nice, facilities and location good, but what really made the holiday was the hospitality and willingness to help of our hosts and the food has been fantastic - by far the best experienced in a catered chalet. Thanks very much.
Fantastic hosts - it’s great to see a couple enjoying their work, excellent food, good chalet, great weather. Just Brill!
The Tennis Club group, UK. March 2010
We were lucky that we found you! We enjoyed the authentic chalet, the slope and eating the ‘schotnen’ especially. We had super nice weather for 5 days. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely recommend you.
The Michel Family (Germany) March 2010
This is very much a superior chalet with really excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them from taking us around the village to organising ski hire and ski school to booking us a restaurant and a return taxi. The chalet food was full ‘cordon bleu’ quality and the atmosphere was always very friendly. Overall Chalet Le Sabot was an excellent experience. Many thanks.
The hospitality and excellent food
Taking care of food allergies
The chalet, warm bedrooms
The cakes...extra helpings of cakes
Large amounts of wine and beer
The snow and slopes
The resort and restaurants
The other guests we were sharing with (the Kings)
We didn’t enjoy:
Thanks for a great holiday!
‘The Swan’, the Dad and Elliot (UK) Half Term February 2010
We came to Chalet Le Sabot for dinner last year and had a taste of a ski holiday in a lovely chalet so this year we looked forward to a week away from the kitchen and daily chores and it has been really wonderful being pampered by our gracious hosts. Thank you Chalet Le Sabot for a lovely week!
The King family (UK) Half Term February 2010
We have had a brilliant relaxing holiday with great hospitality and food, it was just what we both needed.
Jessie and friend (UK) February 2010
We were both looking for a relaxing and carefree break...and guess what we found? Just that plus much more! Lots of snow, beautiful scenery, quaint villages, lots and lots of good food and wine and hosts who cared. Thanks guys.
The Wilson’s (South Africa) February 2010
We had a really good time. (Reference the chalet food) from the Thai to the monkfish with Pernod no effort has been spared. We enjoyed the sauna in this really comfortable chalet. The skiing has been great finishing with a day of powder through the trees- bliss.
Nigel Sylvester and friends (UK) January 2010
We’ve had a lovely time, thanks so much. We’ll be back. NB The cakes were amazing especially the scones!
Vicky and Joe (UK) January 2010
Thanks a million for your wonderful hospitality, you made me feel really welcome and the food was great too!
Niamh (Ireland) January 2010
This was our first time in Oz. The hosts have been fab they took very good care of us and took a really personal interest in us and have been consistently good humoured. Their orientation when we first arrived was really helpful. We very much loved Oz, an attractive village with excellent access to the slopes. There was good skiing at all levels. We’ll be back!
The Morris group (UK) January 2010
We all had an amazing week. With regards to skiing we had great fun on the amazing Vaujany and Alpe d’ Huez resort even with the many falls! The food was the highlight of the chalet although we gained a few pounds. Thanks hugely to the hosts who were great fun all week.
The Nolans (Ireland) January 2010 (2nd visit)
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Chalet Le Sabot, thanks partly to the lovely decor and creature comforts, but mostly thanks to your hosts- the best chalet staff anywhere. They catered for our every need whilst being fun, friendly and very interesting to chat with. We hope to be back some day.
The International Gang: Canada, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Switzerland, Morocco, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, Burundi and Mozambique. New Year 2009
We’re two Dutch families who decided to have a great week in Oz, and we got it! We skied every day and had loads of fun.
The Ward family and friends (Netherlands) Christmas 2009
The holiday was brilliant, everything we were told it would be, great food people and snow! Will let you know later in the year re our return next year.
L. Deith & Family (UK) April 2009
The chalet exceeded expectations. It was comfortable and perfectly set out for 2 families and the description on the website was extremely accurate. It boasts one of the best views in the region. The “bonne surprise” were the hosts who were both extremely accommodating, yet discrete at the same time. The food was some of the best we have tasted for a while and the portions were generous.
R. Meade & Family (UK) April 2009
This was my first skiing holiday, and now I'm a convert. Chalet Le Sabot was perfect for a first-timer like me - always warm and cozy, really helpful hosts who went out of their way to help me sort out lessons and equipment hire, - and so close to the slopes I could practically crawl back with my various bumps and bruises! I would recommend it wholeheartedly as a relaxing base to enjoy great views, great facilities and great mulled wine!
The Deeker's (London, UK) March 2009
Facilities - Very good indeed. Excellent boot room, the rest of the house was neat, clean and comfortable. A great fire every evening. Enough toilets , showers, and living space not to feel cramped.
Food and hospitality - Excellent. Superb hosts, polite, helpful and discrete. Every meal was cooked and presented perfectly.
Ski suitability' - Excellent. Literally a 2min walk to the lift .
Local amenities - Excellent.
Transfer - Easy.
L.Glennon (UK) March 2009
Just a quick note to let you know how much we all thoroughly enjoyed last week in Chalet le Sabot. The skiing was excellent and the weather was very sunny for all but one day. Colin and Sam were terrific hosts and you were right about the food - delicious.
T. Bowes (UK) March 2009
I just wanted to let you know that we all had a great week last week at the chalet. I just about survived the Tunnel run...! Excellent hosts, the standard of the food was fantastic and they really could not do enough for us. I think the quality of the food and chalet really differentiates it from an outfit such as Ski Miquel for example.
D. Marshall (UK) March 2009
This is definitely the best accommodation I’ve stayed in, just a stones throw from the lift with stunning views across the valley. The chalet is beautifully finished and has everything you could wish for and was always warm and welcoming after a long days skiing with home made tea and cakes and a friendly smile. The staff (Sam and Colin) made us feel very welcome with nothing being too much trouble and probably the most outstanding thing of all was the wonderful food they served us – Superb!
M.Salthouse (UK) January 2009
E. Wouters (Belgium) Janvier 2009
"We have just spent a fantastic week at this chalet with our two children aged 3 years and 5 months.
C.Wells (Bristol, UK) December 2008
You don't get a second chance to make a first impression, and my initial impression was wow to Chalet Le Sabot, great location, great accommodation, fantastic food and a very child friendly environment both chalet and resort but best of all my impression did not change during my stay.
D.Jones (UK) December 2008
What an amazing experience. Great food and service from the chalet hosts. The chalet had everything you could want (including awesome views) and the ski lift was a short walk away. Couldn't ask for any more and I'll be back!
P. Connelly (Milton Keynes, UK) December 2008
